FUSE TV’s web series Crate Diggers has profiled the likes of DJ Jazzy Jeff, Diamond D and others in the past. Focusing on the creative genius of none another than J. Dilla, the long-form episode looks to notables like Talib Kweli, J.Rocc, DJ Spinna and his mother Maureen “Ma Dukes” Yancey in hopes of pulling back the curtain and production methods on undoubtedly one of the most diverse and accomplished producers in the history of various genres of music. While it’s been seven years since Dilla tragically passed away due to complications from Lupus, the documentary is further proof that his genius and contributions will never fade.

The “Dream Team” theme takes its inspiration for from Carter’s love for U.S. sports and varsity apparel (and possible Michael Jordan with the emphasis on No. 23?). Great new video by Queens-born performer Awkwafina called “NYC B*tches$.” It’s an ode to and celebration of those who were born here and a torch of everyone else. Well, that’s not exactly true, she does take a certain Brooklyn-born New Yorker to task on the Barclay Center design: “Yo peep that mess Jay-Z call a stadium.” Enjoy!
Australian-born Iggy Azalea releases her latest video titled, “Work.” It’s inspired by the film Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, a move that featured drag queens whose alienation Azaelia said she could relate to growing up in Australia.
Anyone whose ever been to carnival knows this video aptly captures the euphoria of the celebration. The song itself has all the elements of a dance club hit. Enjoy!
Up until now, Brooklyn-based singer Justine Skye has been most known for her “Tumblr famous” adorable relationship with L3NF designer Glyn Brown. Her just launched mixtape Sky High should give her an entirely new level of fame. Stream her mixtape here and see if you don’t find yourself a little blown away by her polish and composure, especially given her mere 16 years on the planet. My fave? The NYC-centric “All Aboard.” Enjoy!
